Fiji Airways, has long been a major promoter of travel and tourism to the nation because Fiji is a well-liked vacation spot, especially for Australian and New Zealand families. Fly Your Way with Fiji Airlines is a concept that Fiji Airways unveiled last week to allow economy travelers the freedom to choose what they want out of their trips.
This is an intriguing move on the part of the full-service airline, which intends to provide passengers with the best of both worlds by modifying its product offering to one more in line with a low-cost carrier (LCC). By “introducing an unbundled economy class pricing idea,” as stated by Fiji Airlines, travellers will have greater flexibility and options.
Four product options are now available to economy passengers: Lite (LT), Value (VL), Comfort (CM), and Plus (PL). Except for the fact that the Lite fare begins at a considerably higher level than on an LCC, they are right out of the low-cost airline playbook.
Andre Viljoen, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airlines, said Fly Your Way is a cornerstone of the company’s ongoing efforts to develop and roll out new goods and services in response to changing consumer demands. He thinks the program offers visitors the best value for their money, whether they are a family on vacation or just packing light for a weekend break. “With this new concept, we give them the ability to choose the product that suits them best,” saying: “We have conducted extensive global market research, and I am certain our different guest demographics will see the benefit in each of them. The results of the market research showed that what our different customers expect and value most when travelling and what they prefer more flexibility with, and that’s the approach we took when designing these categories.”
The starting point of the Fiji Airlines economy offering is fascinating. We’ve all taken flights on low-cost carriers where everything is extra, but Fiji Airways’ Lite option appears to be a typical economy rate on a full-service airline, maybe as a tribute to its past.
Meals, refreshments, onboard entertainment, and a carry-on bag that may hold up to 7 kg are all included in all economy fare types (15.4 pounds).
The broad route network of Fiji Airways extends beyond the South Pacific to North America, Asia, and Australia. Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Singapore, Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane are among the places it travels to. It uses a combination of wide-body Airbus A330 and A350 and narrow-body Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 737-800 aircraft, with some regional flying being conducted by turboprops.
