Following a new initiative from Eurail, agents and OTAs can now provide mobile rail passes. Eurail, the firm that produces the Eurail and Interrail train passes, has launched a new distribution platform that allows agencies to sell both in mobile format.
Distributors can connect via API or the Eurail Ticketing System for offline sales (ETS).
Both passes allow you to travel by train to up to 33 countries around Europe.
In 2020, Eurail and Interrail debuted mobile Eurail and Interrail passes. They can be utilized within 11 months after purchase, with complete freedom in terms of route and trip start date.
The Rail Planner app allows travelers to plan their trip autonomously, with the added benefit of a flexible refund and exchange policy that allows them to reschedule or postpone travel at a minimal cost.
Eurail’s business and growth manager, Silvia Festa, said: “Travellers ask for flexible travel products these days, that allows for last minute and hassle-free change of travel plans.
“In addition, the interest in green travel and the launch of various new night trains in Europe have raised the interest in train travel within Europe among a broader audience.
“Our rail passes also create an interesting opportunity to upsell with other ancillary products in order to deliver an appealing package to customers.”
Eurail’s distribution partners account for a considerable portion of Eurail and Interrail Pass sales. Rail Europe, SilverRail, Trip.com, and All Aboard, all existing distributors, were the first to be joined earlier this summer.
