Etihad Airlines is Back to East India With Daily Flights to Kolkata

Etihad Airlines touched down in Kalkota to mark its eagerly awaited comeback to East India. The airline will once more use Abu Dhabi to link Kolkata, India’s financial center, with the rest of the world on a total of seven weekly nonstop flights.

The inaugural aircraft for the new route, EY256, took off from Abu Dhabi at 1:50 p.m. local time on 26th March and landed at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport at 8:10 p.m. local time on 27th March.

Passengers were greeted upon arrival in Kolkata with a cake-cutting ceremony and a celebration, which was attended by Etihad and Kolkata Airport Executives.

On 26th March, at 9:05 p.m. local time, the return aircraft, EY257, departed from Kolkata and landed in Abu Dhabi little after 1:00 a.m.

Re-establishing this vital air link with East India will support the growing demand from travelers in and around the region, offering them easy access to Abu Dhabi and connectivity to our global network alongside a world-class flying experience. We have been very impressed with our initial demand, which reaffirms our strategy to return to this key market.”

The flights will be run using an Airbus A320 aircraft, providing passengers in 8 Business Class seats and 150 Economy seats with Etihad’s award-winning service, convenient flight timings to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, and seamless connections to destinations across the airline’s expanding global network of 67 destinations.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility in Abu Dhabi International Airport is available to Etihad passengers flying from Kolkata to the US. It is the only US immigration preclearance service in the region that enables passengers to clear US immigration while they are still in Abu Dhabi, allowing them to get home more quickly and easily.
