Emirates to Resume Service Between Glasgow-Dubai

Due to the UK government’s decision to remove the United Arab Emirates from its red list of destinations, Dubai-based Emirates will resume service to Glasgow later this month.

The decision, which was made on Wednesday evening, means that the UAE will be on the amber list starting today, Sunday (8th August), which means that visitors traveling from Dubai will no longer be required to quarantine at a government-approved hotel if they are properly vaccinated.

Emirates’ Boeing 777-200LR will fly four times a week between Dubai and Glasgow beginning 11th August, with business and economy classes.

Emirates will raise its flight frequency to a daily service beginning in September.

Emirates’ chief commercial officer, Adnan Kazim, said: “Emirates welcomes the decision to add the UAE to the UK’s amber list for international travel, reflecting the extensive steps that have been taken to mitigate the spread of the virus in the UK and UAE.

“Since the UK’s announcement, we’ve seen a huge surge in queries from customers desperate to travel to see their families, planning their kids’ return for the new school term, as well as their postponed business or holiday travel.”

The Chie Operating Officer for AGS Airports Ltd, which owns Glasgow airport, Mark Johnston, said: “Emirates’ decision to restart the country’s busiest long-haul route is a significant step towards rebuilding Scotland’s vital connectivity and will be welcome news to our passengers.”
