In order to meet the ongoing demand for international travel, Emirates is continuing to restore its network and will resume flights from Stansted today, 1st August. The airline will also enhance the capacity of the airport.
Since pausing operations at the London airport in March 2020 owing to the pandemic, this marks the carrier’s first commercial flight from Stansted.
Plans for the airline’s capacity increase from five-weekly trips to a daily flight, beginning today, have advanced. Emirates has increased its operations to London with nine daily flights, including six daily flights to Heathrow and a double daily trip to Gatwick, as a result of the resumption of services to Stansted.
Emirates will fly wide-body Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to Stansted. Today at 13:30, a flight from Dubai will be the first to land at the airport. The return flight will then leave Stansted at 21:10 and land in Dubai at 07:10 on Tuesday, 2nd August.
Emirates’ divisional vice president for the UK, Richard Jewsbury, stated:
“We are delighted to be recommencing services to and from Stansted today and offering passengers further connectivity during the popular summer holiday period.
“Bookings in the UK and London have continued to surge with the further easing of travel restrictions and as appetite for international travel grows stronger. Stansted is a key hub for Emirates in the East and Southeast of the UK as we continue to scale up travel following the pandemic.”
Emirates’ Newcastle service will resume running from Stansted on 30th October and return to its pre-Covid schedule, operating as EK035/036 in the morning (instead of EK033/034).
