When flights resume in December, Emirates plans to increase capacity on its Gatwick-Dubai route by nearly half.
The Gulf carrier will use larger Airbus A380 aircraft instead of Boeing B777s on the route, providing nearly 50% more capacity than previously envisaged.
It will have three classes: First, Business, and Economy, with flight EK015 departing Dubai at 7.40 a.m. on December 10 and landing at 11.40 a.m. at Gatwick.
Return flight EK016 leaves Gatwick at 1.35 p.m. and arrives in Dubai at 12.40 a.m. the next day.
Emirates divisional vice-president for the United Kingdom, Richard Jewsbury, said:
“Upgrading the Gatwick route to our A380 will help us meet ever growing demand for international travel from the British public.
“Whether it’s winter sun trips to Dubai or passengers travelling further afield to reconnect with family and friends, future bookings continue to gather pace.
“Gatwick airport has long been a valued partner for Emirates and we look forward to welcoming passengers back onboard Emirates’ flagship aircraft soon.”
After resuming flights from Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Newcastle on December 10, Gatwick will become Emirates’ sixth operational gateway in the UK.
It will offer 84 weekly flights between the UK and Dubai by the end of December, with onward connections to more than 120 destinations – almost 90% of Emirates’ pre-pandemic network.
The Gulf carrier flies six times daily from Heathrow to Dubai, twice daily from Manchester, ten times weekly from Birmingham, once daily from Glasgow, and four times weekly from Newcastle.
