Emirates’ Gatwick services have resumed, with flights to and from Dubai returning on Friday.
The restoration of Emirates flights to Gatwick follows the recent return of Emirates services to Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Newcastle airports.
Bookings from the UK to locations such as the Maldives, Mauritius, and Dubai have recovered to 2019 levels, according to the airline, which says its network now has 120 destinations, which is close to 90% of its pre-pandemic coverage.
A total of 84 flights are now available per week from the United Kingdom, with a second daily flight from Gatwick set to begin on 27th January 2022.
Emirates’ lounges in Birmingham and Manchester have reopened, with lounges in Glasgow and Gatwick set to open in January.
Divisional vice-president Richard Jewsbury stated: “We have continued to see demand for international travel, particularly from the southeast, and are pleased to resume operations from Gatwick.
“Emirates is fully committed to the UK and we have operated flights from the airport for over 30 years, providing vital connectivity to Dubai and beyond for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and family.
“The route has also carried billions of pounds worth of cargo into and out of the region – supporting UK businesses of all shapes and sizes.”
