The Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers in Europe will be served by Emerald Cruises’ newest Star-class ship Emerald Luna, which was christened on Thursday (21st July) during a ceremony in Amsterdam.
Those present included Maggie Carbonell, US vice-president of marketing, David Winterton, global director of brand and marketing for Emerald Cruises, and Rob Voss, chief operating officer of the Scenic Group.
The ceremony was also attended by Emerald Luna’s godmother, Gifted Travel Network’s Vanessa McGovern, an educator and advocate for the US travel industry.
According to Winterton, the arrival of Luna enables the line to provide more sailings on its “most popular” European river trips.
“We are delighted to have Vanessa McGovern, a passionate advocate for travel agents, christen the ship as godmother and cement our commitment to supporting travel agents,” he added.
With a christening in Venice in May, Emerald Cruises introduced Emerald Azzurra, its first ocean-going luxury yacht, to its fleet. Emerald Sakara, a second luxury yacht, is slated to make its debut in 2023.
