Following a collaboration agreement with Qatar Tourism, Emerald Cruises’ first superyacht will be based in Doha beginning in January 2023.
The 100-passenger Emerald Azzurra will travel from Doha to Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, as well as Khasab in Oman, on seven-night itineraries.
Pre- and post-cruise tours are provided, with a three-day Qatar package being the most popular. The National Museum of Qatar and the Souq Waqif, where passengers can buy souvenirs and spices, are both highlights.
Doha’s new Grand Cruise Terminal is close to the Souq Waqif.
The package also includes a journey to the desert, where guests can ride a camel or drive a car across sand dunes.
Berthold Trenkel, Qatar Tourism’s chief operations officer, said: “In line with the national strategy, Qatar National Vision 2030, we’re expanding our tourism value proposition and are excited to welcome travelers from around the world to experience the best of Qatari hospitality both on sea and land.
“The new itineraries launching with Emerald Cruises are another step towards achieving this vision.”
Emerald’s parent company Scenic Group’s chief operating officer, Rob Voss, added: “In partnership with Qatar Tourism our guests will experience first-hand and in luxury yachting style, the immersive beauty and hospitality the Gulf region and specifically Qatar has to offer.”
Passengers on Emerald Azzurra can visit an observation deck and lounge, a wellness space, an infinity pool and marina platform which offers many marina toys including sea bobs and paddleboards.
After being postponed, the superyacht’s maiden trip will now take place next month.
