Edinburgh Welcomes Delta’s Nonstop Flights from Atlanta After a Decade

After an absence of more than ten years, Delta has resumed nonstop service between Edinburgh and Atlanta. A piper welcomed the 216-seat Boeing 767-300 when it made its first flight into the Scottish city since 2007 on 26th May.
The connection, in addition to the connections with Boston and New York-JFK, will increase Edinburgh’s transatlantic capacity to 149% of 2019 levels.
European, Middle Eastern, African, and Indian sales director for Delta, Paul Hassenstab, stated: “Bringing back our non-stop service from Edinburgh to Atlanta offers our customers more than 200 onward destinations across the United States and beyond as well as providing more options for US visitors to Scotland.”
In order to connect Edinburgh with Georgia’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, the largest airport in the world, Delta is collaborating with Air France KLM and Virgin Atlantic. Americans made up 18% of all foreign visits to Scotland in 2019, making the US the country with the highest inbound tourist traffic.
Added Hassenstab: “The ties between our two nations are historic and enduring, and with positive demand for all our Scottish services both from business and leisure customers, we have grown our schedule between Scotland and the US by 90% compared to last year.”
Edinburgh airport chief executive Gordon Dewar said: “It’s always exciting to add new routes where we can, and we are thrilled to offer another connection to the USA by connecting these two fantastic cities.”

While flight number DL34 leaves Atlanta at 10.25 p.m. and arrives in Edinburgh at 11.30 a.m., flight number DL35 departs Edinburgh at 12.05 p.m. and arrives in Atlanta at 4 p.m.
Due to high demand, flights have been increased to daily service through September 5 from the initial five times per week that were planned, according to Edinburgh airport.
