Eastwind Oliverea Valley will feature improved guest experiences in addition to the brand’s recognizable Scandinavian aesthetic.
The company will introduce Eastwind Oliverea Valley in January 2023, expanding on the popularity of Eastwind Hotel’s previous locations, Eastwind Windham and Eastwind Lake Placid, and introducing its distinctive Scandinavian-inspired lodgings to a new area of the Catskills. By delving deeper into the area’s natural beauty, Eastwind Oliverea Valley enhances the visitor experience by adding a restaurant and bar on-site, Dandelion, a pool, and a new room type. The brand’s first from the ground up construction, the third property from the portfolio’s founders Bjorn Boyer, Julija Stoliarova, and Dan Cipriani offers purposely styled lodging with Mid-Century vintage furnishings chosen by the designer.
Eastwind Oliverea Valley has been specifically created to provide private, natural retreats without sacrificing style. It is nestled between three 3,000-foot peaks and is surrounded by lush woods, the tranquil sounds of Esopus Creek, which runs across the property, and a peaceful mountain stream.
There are many amenities available, including free bikes to use along a nature trail, sunrise yoga, seasonal workshops, foraging walks, and poolside lounge areas with curated DJ sets.
The hotel offers a sophisticated food and beverage menu that guests can enjoy in a variety of settings, including the seasonal all-day menu and dinner service at Dandelion, breakfast baskets for in-room delivery, s’mores-making kits for the firepits, drinks at the bar, meals cooked over an open flame Argentinian grill when the weather permits, and private dining with prix fixe menus under the shade of trees.
Daniel Cipriani, co-founder of Eastwind Hotels, and former chef and founder of some of Brooklyn’s most popular restaurants, including Urban Rustic, Sea Wolf, Playland Motel, Lodge, and Gemelli, has opened Dandelion, his first full-service restaurant outside the five boroughs. After managing restaurants for almost 20 years in NYC, he has spent the last several years traveling through the Catskills and Adirondacks, getting in touch with nature, honing his foraging techniques, and forming connections with regional farmers. Chef Daniel will offer a “forage to table,” plant-forward, international comfort cuisine menu at Dandelion using his new knowledge and connections. Every day, a selection of seasonal small meals and beverages will be served. Thursday through Sunday evenings, dinner will be served with specialties including Lohikeitto, a Finnish fish chowder, and house-made gnocchi with trumpet mushrooms, as well as nightly specials depending on what’s locally and seasonally available.
With a focus on Scandinavian design and drawing inspiration from historical designs from the mid-century era, Eastwind Co-Founder and Creative Director Julija Stoliarova personally selected each of the 30 individually designed guest rooms for the boutique hotel. The four varieties of all-weather, wood A-frame freestanding cabins—Lushna Cabins, Lushna Cabins with Decks, Lushna Suites, and an altogether new category—Double Lushnas—are now offered and come with queen beds. The hotel offers a selection of different rooms with king beds and a range of in-room amenities, such as vintage workstations, seating nooks, rain showers, hooded Pendleton robes, private patios, fridges, and electric kettles with tea and coffee kits for a quick pick-me-up in the morning.
Accommodations are purposefully designed to complement the surrounding landscape through the use of earth tones, organic materials, and vintage furnishings.
Oliverea Valley is positioned in the Catskill Mountains, on the Esopus Creek in Ulster County. The Phoenicia Diner, Belleayre Mountain, Shandaken Historical Museum, Woodland Valley State Park, Giant Ledge, Ashokan Rail Trail, and other area attractions are within a short drive from the property. Year-round activities include horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiking, biking, and skiing and snowboarding, offering a break from city life.
