The brand-new PACIFIC 19 Kona, an island-urban hotel that has been entirely rebuilt and reimagined for independent travelers looking for contemporary lodgings and genuine experiences, is now officially open. The 122-room hotel, which is run by Springboard Hospitality, is situated on Hawaii Island (the Big Island) and is on the Pacific Ocean’s 19th parallel, which connects east and west.
The new appearance of PACIFIC 19 Kona was conceptualized by the Honolulu-based design firm The Vanguard Theory, who created deliberate spaces aimed to bring the outside in. The open-air lobby entrance is anchored by a large monkeypod tree and beautiful vegetation. The foyer was designed to be a welcoming area where guests might be welcomed by a big reception table fashioned from salvaged monkeypod by a nearby woodworker, Ryan Donnelly.
Rich planters, teak slat walls, matching wood cabinetry, and custom wallpaper with images of local royal palms, papaya, ohia, and koa trees, created by local artist Lauren Trangmar, all enhance the living room’s ambiance. Guests can unwind on a lounger, swim laps in the pool, or hang out by one of two firepits just steps outside the foyer.
Sand taupe, palm green, black lava, and whitecap enhance the natural wood furnishings in the guest rooms to mirror Kailua-surroundings Kona’s and encourage visitors to get outside and enjoy nature. From the hardwood credenzas to the upholstered headboards, every piece of furniture was specially created for the hotel and pays homage to the island’s ethos and welcoming aloha. The boutique hotel’s carefully chosen in-room amenities, including as plush 100% cotton sheets and towels, upscale bath products, and buyable locally sourced groceries, all support the goal of Pier 19 Kona, which is to inspire visitors to venture outdoors and explore. A private lanai and a macro bar with snacks and buyable adventure gear are included in every guestroom.
The hotel has created its rotating art program, website, and social media in conjunction with its network of local content producers to act as an insider’s guide to Hawai’i Island for the contemporary traveler.
PACIFIC 19 Kona promotes visitors to experience the island’s true character by showcasing the best beaches, hikes, and local attractions on the Big Island through storytelling, photography, and art.
The hotel has Café P19, which will serve coffee, artisanal teas, and light fare, as well as a retail store in the lobby with fashionable necessities for exploring the island, like snorkels, fins, adventurous beach clothing, and more. Additionally, guests can take advantage of programming that focuses on art, music, culture, and wellness. These activities include daily yoga classes, live music and food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays, revolving lifestyle pop-ups by regional designers and artists, and off-property island experiences.
