This spring, a brand-new hospitality destination will open in the ancient city of Krakow. Located in a former church and monastery with an illustrious history reaching back to the 14th century, 12|14 Stradom House sees heritage revived, bringing the elegance of its past into the present, enabling guests to discover its legacy, while giving an inspiring “home away from home.”
The hotel’s great location between Krakow’s ancient Jewish and Royal Quarters, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the bustling Old Town, and Wawel Castle makes it the perfect starting point for exploring the city’s attractions and rich history. The 3rd European Games will be held in Krakow this summer, while the city is also hosting other cultural events including Krakow Art Week in May and the International Festival of Independent Cinema, “Off Camera,” in April and May.
The painstaking restoration of 12|14 Stradom House’s frescoes and high ceilings with the use of striking colors and textures highlights new methods to combine modernity with antiquity. The interiors were created by the renowned design firm ADC Atelier, whose founder was responsible for designing well-known projects like the exclusive Members Club, Soho House. In order to create a hotel dripping with authenticity and history, the 12|14 Stradom House building is embracing its historical elements with polish modernism. The foyer features rugs based on 17th-century tapestries, local vintage furniture, walls inspired by mineral salt, and floors decorated in traditional Krakow tile patterns. Soft pinks and patinated blues are used in the color schemes of the thoughtfully decorated rooms as a nod to the Krakow skyline. Modern furniture, such high-gloss desks covered in leather and vintage pieces that have been reupholstered in contemporary textiles, contrasts with the classic elements. With specially commissioned artwork by regional Polish artists like Przemek Pyszczek, Marcin Janusz, and Dorota Buczkowska, displayed on the walls of each room, local skill and craftsmanship are highlighted throughout. The 155 square meter Chapel Loft, the largest suite in the city, is perfect for groups or multigenerational families. It features a master bedroom, a private kitchen with a huge dining table that seats up to 10 people, and a grand piano.
The 12|14 Stradom House in Krakow will have three restaurants and bars, including John Dory, an elegant seafood restaurant with whimsical underwater décor and salt pink marbles that nod to the area’s salt mines. The Chef’s Table offers great fine dining options, and the private dining room offers a more personal dining experience. The Rib Eye Shawarma with Tahini and Green Chili Paste is one of the restaurant Gaia’s standout fresh Mediterranean-inspired meals. This bright area is filled with lush green plants, and the full height patio doors allow a seamless flow to the courtyard, further inspiring thoughts of Mediterranean cuisine. Hedwig’s Club, located in the Church of St. Hedwig, is the crown jewel. The focal point of this opulent room is the top-notch bar and wine cellar, which combines baroque elements with modernist touches and uses a color scheme that was inspired by the patinated copper roofs of Krakow. Here, visitors may savor inventive drinks like the Bourbon cocktail N2, which is laced with truffles. The in-room bartender service allows guests to enjoy drinks in the privacy of their suite as staff members whisk up specialty cocktails and mocktails right there in the room.
Visitors can take advantage of the amazing Sól spa, which was created in collaboration with Alexandra Soveral, to unwind after seeing the medieval city. The spa features award-winning products that are custom mixed utilizing natural raw ingredients for a holistic and opulent experience. In the moody treatment rooms, which resemble caves, one can indulge in soothing facials and body treatments. Signature Salt Bath treatments highlight and combine the natural salts and medicinal essential oils for the utmost relaxation. They are inspired by regional salt mining traditions. Visitors will receive a gift of the customized oil they used during their treatments when they check out. Sól’s amenities also include a spectacular 20-meter indoor pool, a fully-stocked 24-hour gym, and a range of wet areas like a steam room, hydromassage showers, a bio sauna, an infrared salt sauna, and a sound room, promising a city hideaway to revitalize the mind and body.
The 12 I 14 Stradom House has opened a private Membership Club, giving members unique access to the hotel’s exceptional F&B and health options, events, and coworking spaces. The hotel has aspirations to become a Lifestyle Destination. Hedwigs bar can host chic parties, and the hotel’s 250 sq m of flexible meeting and event space are outfitted with cutting edge technology and are perfect for business meetings, cocktail receptions, weddings, exhibits, or private screenings.
“We keep it real, and authentic. 12I14 Stradom House, Autograph Collection is a lifestyle destination assembled, transformed, and prepared to be one-of-a-kind experience. It presents a connection with the city, the community and nature, which is exactly what we want to be. We look forward to welcoming guests and locals alike to discover.” Lionel Valla, General Manager.
