International visitors to Andalucía staying in regulated accommodation will be offered Covid-19 travel insurance when travelling later this year.
The travel insurance policy will be available to non-resident travellers and will remain in place until the end of the year. The insurance policy will provide cover for medical expenses as well as the cost of an extended stay at a designated place of accommodation and up to €4,000 for repatriation and transport costs.
The new initiative is part of the region’s tourism recovery strategy. Andalucía is a favoured destination in Spain for British tourists and the destination has already reported a “surge in bookings” since the UK roadmap for easing restrictions was announced in the last week of February.
Juan Marín, vice president of the regional government of Andalucía and minister of tourism, said: “The introduction of the International Travel Insurance for Andalucía has consolidated our preparedness to once again begin receiving tourists.
“Hospitality and tourism are vital to the local economy of Andalucía and the UK is an important source market for us; so it is with pleasure that we can confidently say we are in a position to welcome back our British visitors.
“The diversity of our tourist proposition coupled with the assurances that the International Travel Insurance brings to prospective tourists makes Andalucía a top choice for Brits planning their well-earned overseas holiday.”
