China will reopen to foreign tourists starting on 8th January in what likely be one of the last significant deviations from its zero-Covid position.
The Chinese immigration bureau has also indicated that it will start issuing visitors for Chinese citizens who wish to travel abroad on the same date.
The BBC notes that since the announcement, traffic to travel booking services in China has increased, however other countries, including Japan and India, will implement inbound Covid restrictions on travelers arriving from China.
These vary include proof of a recent Covid-19 test that came back negative, proof of vaccination against the virus, or proof of an initial quarantine period.
