Under the new entry procedures, travelers to Chile will undergo random Covid-19 testing.
The modification was emphasized in the updated Foreign Office travel advisory.
Additionally, the South American nation has added new regulations for travelers coming from China.
In April 2022, the Chilean government established three Covid alert levels, with Level 1 being the least severe and Level 3 the most severe. The nation is at Level 1 of alert at the moment.
Foreign Office travel advice was updated to say: “Some people, chosen at random, will be required to take Covid tests when entering the country.
“If you refuse or if the result is positive, you will have to complete a mandatory 5-day quarantine at a government sanitary residence.”
In addition to a vaccination record and documentation of a PCR test that came back negative 48 hours previous to arrival in the South American nation, the modification is now required.
According to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office: “Proof of travel insurance is no longer required. However, insurance coverage for Covid-related issues is highly recommended for the duration of your stay in Chile.”
