Celebrity Cruises is using an app that combines immunization and testing to keep passengers and staff safe ahead of the launch of Celebrity Silhouette’s new UK sailings on 3rd July.
Passengers who have been vaccinated must also show documentation of a negative PCR test done 24-72 hours prior to sailing.
Prior to boarding, children aged, 3 to 17 must complete an antigen test at the terminal.
The line will cover the costs of the requisite PCR and antigen tests.
Passengers aged 11 and up will be obliged to wear a facial covering in the terminal and all shipboard locations, in accordance with UK government regulations.
Travelers will be able to choose their preferred check-in times as all arrivals and departures will be staggered by appointment.
The line said, “These measures will provide guests with a speedier boarding process in a rigorously sanitized and socially distanced environment.”
Once onboard, the Celebrity Cruises mobile app will transform the safety drill into a more personal, time-efficient experience that travelers may complete from the comfort of their own cabin.
Key components of the drill, such as where to go in an emergency and how to correctly utilize a life jacket, will be accessible via mobile devices and interactive cabin TVs, dubbed Muster 2.0.
The app can also be used as a digital cabin key, as well as to make dining and excursion reservations.
If travelers receive a positive Covid test before or during their trip, a “cruise with confidence” policy has been implemented.
Anyone who tests positive within two weeks of their departure date, including at the port, and any members of their immediate traveling party who have been in close contact with them, will receive a full refund.
On sailings through 4th May 2022, passengers who booked before 31st July can cancel for any reason up to 48 hours before departure and receive a 100 percent future cruise credit.
The firm went on to say: “It is anticipated that guests will be permitted to debark Celebrity Silhouette and explore independently in ports of call where there are no restrictions put in place by port authorities or local government.”
MSC Virtousa, the first ship to launch UK coastal cruises, was prevented from calling at Greenock for Glasgow earlier this week by the Scottish government.
