Carnival Liberty to Move Port to New Orleans in 2024

The Carnival Liberty will move to New Orleans soon. The ship will replace the Carnival Glory, which currently leaves from the port, and set out on a string of cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean in May 2024.

The Conquest-class ship will offer two distinct week-long itineraries to the Western Caribbean, in addition to a seven-night trip to the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean, departing on Sundays from its Louisiana homeport.

The new itinerary includes stops at well-known ports like Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Mahogany Bay, Freeport, and Nassau, according to Carnival’s Brand Ambassador John Heald.

In December 2024, the Carnival Liberty will also depart from New Orleans on a unique 14-night Carnival Journey.

The two-week route includes stops in Grand Cayman, Aruba, Curaçao, Cartagena, Colón, Puerto Limón, and Cozumel while sailing to the Panama Canal and the Southern Caribbean.

Started in 2005, the 2,974-guest Carnival Liberty, the fourth ship in the Conquest class, went into operation.

The 110,000-ton ship features 22 lounges and bars, four swimming pools, a 214-foot-long water slide, a sizable health and fitness center, and Carnival’s Seaside Theatre, an enormous poolside LED screen, in addition to a range of eating, entertainment, and activity options.

The Carnival Glory, which is now headquartered in New Orleans, will take over the Liberty’s operations in Port Canaveral.

The 2003-built vessel will conduct three- and four-night Bahamas cruises beginning in May 2024 from its homeport in Central Florida.

The Carnival Valor is scheduled to continue sailing from New Orleans in 2024 together with the Carnival Liberty.

The ship offers a number of four- and five-night voyages to Mexico and the Western Caribbean after making its Louisiana debut in early 2019.

The program, which runs through at least April 2025, includes routes that stop in Puerto Progreso, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.
