The VeriFLY system will be used by Carnival Cruise Line to allow guests to upload proof of immunization and testing information.
After the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adopted voluntary guidelines for cruise lines to perform sailings for completely jabbed passengers, the scheme will encompass departures from US ports.
Passengers aboard the new ship Mardi Gras at Port Canaveral, Florida, began using VeriFLY on Saturday as part of a pilot program.
The airline is also finalizing plans to increase terminal testing capabilities for vaccinated passengers prior to embarkation, particularly for three- and four-day flights.
Carnival also stated that “until further notice,” it will continue to operate under its present standards, which include sailing vaccinated voyages, requiring pre-embarkation testing, and adhering to onboard indoor mask requirements.
The use of VeriFLY to check passenger vaccination status before to sailing seeks to expedite the terminal embarkation process.
Carnival has relaunched 19 of its 22 US-based ships, sailing from eight different homeports.
