The UK Civil Aviation Authority has awarded Aer Lingus (UK) Limited, a subsidiary of the Aer Lingus Group, an airline operating licence, allowing it to move on with plans to commence Manchester-to-US services.
On 30th September, Aer Lingus (UK) plans to commence flights to New York and Orlando, as well as services to Barbados on 20th October.
The CAA issued the following statement regarding the license’s issuance: “This allows the company to undertake transatlantic scheduled passenger services between the United Kingdom and the United States.”
The Irish carrier said in March that it planned to begin service from Manchester to New York and Orlando in July. In June, however, it announced a postponement due to “international crossings opening later than intended.”
According to reports earlier this month, the US is working on a scheme that would require practically all international visitors to the country to be completely vaccinated against Covid-19.
