Within weeks of the announcement that Tesco ClubCard was ending its partnership with British Airways, Nectar have announced their new partnership with the airline. With immediate effect, you can convert Nectar points into Avios and vice versa.

The conversion rate is 400 Nectar Points = 250 Avios.

To celebrate the new deal, Executive Club will receive a one-off bonus of 500 Avios when converting 1,600 Nectar points given them a total of 1,500 Avios.

The changes take effect from 25th January 2021 from which point Executive Club members will be able to link their Nectar and Avios accounts from either the British Airways or Nectar websites.

Double Dipping

For Avios collectors, this new partnership provides an excellent opportunity to double dip instore where they cannot benefit from the Avios e-Store. For example, using a British Airways American Express Premium card to pay for fuel 60 litres of petrol at Esso would earn 72 Avios based on £1.20 per litre plus 60 nectar points which is worth 37.5 Avios earning a total of just under 100 Avios.

Up to 3.125 Avios per £1 at Sainsburys

Sainsburys is currently offering double Nectar points for all qualifying spend at Sainsburys until 19th April 2021. In addition using a Sainsburys Gold credit card to pay for purchases at Sainsburys earns 3 Nectar points per £1 spent. Combined together, Sainsburys credit card holders could earn upto as 5 Nectar points per £1 spent which equates to 312.5 Avios on £100.
