Following a 16-month hiatus due to the Covid-19 epidemic, British Airways’ flagship lounge at JFK airport in New York reopened on Sunday.
Following the government’s statement that double-vaccinated US travelers will be exempt from quarantine upon arrival in the UK starting today, the facility at Terminal 7 reopens (2nd August).
The Galleries Club lounge’s opening is also the next step in the airline’s gradual lounge reopening strategy.
Prior to flights to Heathrow, it will be available to customers flying First, Club World, and qualifying cardholders.
Tom Stevens, head of BA’s brand and customer experience, said: “After the news about the change in entry requirements for US customers into the UK, we expect to host more customers who need to travel and so we have decided that it is the right time to open our flagship lounge in New York.
“We are looking forward to welcoming some of our American customers back to London from next week and bringing Britons who reside in the US home for much-needed family time.”
Three domestic lounges in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen were recently reopened by the airline.
