Boston is renaming its promotional organization and launching a new tourism campaign.
The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) has changed its name to Meet Boston as part of a new push to emphasize the city’s arts, cultural, and culinary sector.
The “Boston Never Gets Old” campaign features unexpected ambassadors from the sports and entertainment sectors as well as dynamic, imaginative images.
Meet Boston intends to provide agents with a customized training program that will include in-person sessions, webinars, and an e-newsletter.
According to a spokeswoman, Meet Boston plans to actively promote tour operator partners and the growing airlift with partners including Delta Air Lines, United, JetBlue, American Airlines, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic. Hosted group fam visits to the city are also on the cards.
Martha Sheridan, president and CEO of Meet Boston, said: “Tourism is integral to the Boston and Bay State economy, and it was time for us to further invest in promoting all that we have to offer, to draw large-scale, international events to Boston.
“Boston is a global city that always deserves to be on the world stage. We have five-star hotels, world-class venues, art exhibitions, incredible professional sports teams and 23 diverse neighbourhoods where 76 different languages are spoken.
“We also have 400 years of history that is not to be forgotten as we look to the future.”
