Barbados Opens a Call Center for Overseas Visitors

Barbados Tourism has built a tourism call center for overseas visitors.

The Barbados Tourism Call Centre was established as a pilot operation during the height of the Covid-19 outbreak to give a direct line for assistance with travel protocols, test queries, and other tourism-related issues.

As travel continues to rebound, Barbados Tourist Marketing Inc acknowledged that it has matured into one of the organization’s most useful tools, serving as a complete hub for all tourism inquiries.

Visitors can phone a toll-free number on the island or in their home markets to speak with one of Barbados’ tourism providers, who can give callers full information on Barbados vacations.

The Barbados Tourism Call Centre can also be reached through the website www.visitbarbados.org, which now includes a web chat option that tourism businesses can use.

Since the trial project began in January, call center workers have handled more than 2,500 calls and 7,500 webchats from across the world, averaging around 100 calls and 300 webchats per week.

Roseanne Myers, chair of the Barbados Tourism Board, said: “We recognise that travel in the Covid-19 era has become challenging, and as the leading tourism agency we have to do more to interact with our visitors to facilitate inbound and outbound travel.

“The Tourism Call Centre is open 24/7 and has now become part of the way we do business. Each time the phone rings, a human voice answers and seeks to respond to those matters raised or direct callers towards a solution.”
