The Sylvia Earle, a new Aurora Expeditions ship, will make her debut in the south Atlantic in November as a “floating ambassador for global conservation.”
Dr Sylvia Earle, a marine scientist, oceanographer, and adventurer, will name the latest addition to the Australian adventure line’s fleet before heading to South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
The 17-day maiden journey begins on 4th November in Santiago, Chile, and ends in Ushuaia, Argentina.
During the ship’s first season in February 2023, Dr. Earle will join a unique Antarctic Climate Expedition.
The ship’s first season includes trips to Antarctica, Costa Rica, the Canadian Arctic, Norway, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, and Scotland.
For reservations made before 30th June, a discount of up to 20% off Sylvia Earle trips is being given.
Sylvia Earle, like sister ship Greg Mortimer, can accommodate up to 140 guests.
A two-story glass atrium lounge in the bow, a lecture lounge, several observation spaces, Zodiac launching platforms, two restaurants, a gym and wellness center, swimming pool, whirlpool tubs, and a mudroom are among the amenities.
Hayley Peacock-Gower, chief marketing officer, stated: “We are thrilled to confirm the inaugural season of the Sylvia Earle, and to be debuting her on such a magnificent voyage whose destinations are so representative of Aurora’s spirit of exploration, discovery and education.
“This highly anticipated vessel is intended to be a floating ambassador for the conservation of the planet, with a large focus on marine education and conservation in line with Dr Earle’s own longstanding efforts.
“We are so looking forward to having our adventurous expeditioners join us in exploring some of the world’s wildest, most awe-inspiring and important regions whilst paying tribute to such an incredible hero of our planet.”
