One of the most legendary hotels on the Côte d’Azur makes a triumphant return to Nice with the opening of Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel, continuing Anantara’s European growth. The hotel is housed in a restored 19th century architectural jewel on Nice’s boardwalk. The historic building overlooking the Promenade des Anglais has reopened after a two-year long refurbishment to restore it to its Belle Époque splendor.
The Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel is ideally situated at the entrance to Nice’s Golden Square and offers views of the Albert 1er Gardens and the shimmering Promenade des Anglais, Nice’s most well-known seashore.
The remarkable 175-year-old building has 151 rooms, including 38 suites, many with sea views from their balconies and terraces. It also has a new Anantara Spa, a seminar area with six meeting rooms, a ballroom, and a chic rooftop restaurant and bar with a 360-degree view of Old Nice and the Baie des Anges.
The beautiful interiors were created by a group of interior designers and architects that included the award-winning David Collins Studio, the local architect Jean-Paul Gomis, and TBC Studio. The design brings the historic structure on Nice’s Avenue de Verdun up to date with contemporary tastes while paying homage to the neo-classical design of the original hotel, which debuted as Nice’s first luxury hotel in 1848.
The guest rooms and suites at the Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel blend luxurious Anantara accents with comfortable sophistication, both of which were inspired by the dazzling Mediterranean Sea and the Côte d’Azur’s golden age. The marble-covered interiors, which offer views of the sea or landscaped gardens, combine pastel colors and rich Mediterranean textures to create a calming ambience. Subtle touches of wood and gold also help to stimulate the senses.
Visitors can reserve the 54-square-meter Baie des Anges Signature Suite, which features a large sitting room, a kitchenette, and a panoramic terrace overlooking the renowned Baie, to experience Nice in the ultimate French Riviera elegance.
The 75-square-meter Presidential Suite, which is even more opulent and is situated on the fifth floor, is a stunning room with amazing views of Baie des Anges from a welcoming patio made for sunbathing and intimate gatherings.
The hotel’s namesake restaurant, SEEN by Olivier, is located on the renowned rooftop and serves up modern Mediterranean cuisine created by Portuguese chef-entrepreneur Olivier da Costa. The new SEEN in Nice combines striking views, creative mixology, and gastronomic discoveries like Niçoise specialties subtly scented with black truffles from the nearby village of Le Rouret to briny sea urchins and plump oysters from local waters. This is similar to his hip eateries in Lisbon, Sao Paulo, and Bangkok.
With 360° views of the city and the Baie des Anges from both indoor and outdoor tables, the breezy environment is tempting.
Fresh seafood, light nibbles, regional food, and wine by the glass will be served at Les Colonnades, a glitzy Caviar and Champagne bar with indigenous flavors and furnishings inspired by the aesthetic synergy of Nice’s tropical gardens and the sea. An iconic Afternoon Tea à la Niçoise will transport guests to a glitzy bygone age in the afternoon.
Nice and the adjacent French Riviera towns of St Tropez, Monaco, Cannes, and Alpes-Maritimes have no shortage of fascinating activities since they are year-round destinations.
Anantara Plaza Nice makes the most of its convenient location by providing a wide range of exclusive guest experiences that encourage visitors to discover hilltop villages, vineyards that date back to the Roman era, and little-known architectural treasures.
A full-day “In the Footsteps of Coco Chanel” tour gives visitors the option to visit Château de Cremat, one of France’s oldest vineyards, in addition to learning about the designer’s creative process. Enjoy lunch in the hills above Nice, a wine tasting of Anantara’s special cuvées, and a trip to Coco Chanel’s official mansion in Nice.
Guests will be picked up from their hotel in a vintage Citroen 2 CV and driven to the charming medieval village of Biot where they will learn the fundamentals of glass blowing and make their own little glass object to take home, such as a figurine, necklace, or small vessel. A superb lunch in a typical rural restaurant marks the culmination of the adventure and offers a glimpse into the elusive French way of life.
The Anantara Spa of the Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel offers a tranquil getaway for the senses with five treatment rooms, a hammam, and a sauna.
Exceptional marine skincare products, pure essential oils from the Grasse region, Asian therapies, and famous pedicurist Bastien Gonzalez’s transformational pedicures mix. Gonzalez is recognized for his lighthearted approach to foot care. The spa carries a custom line of luxurious massage oils prepared with essential oils from Grasse, the home of perfume, turning once more to the healing powers of nature. The line includes Anantara Nice’s renowned “Coucher de Soleil” oil, which is made with ginger, mimosa, and other aromatic herbs that are all sourced locally. Additionally, visitors can exercise at the 24-hour fitness center, take advantage of running events along the seaside Promenade, or set new objectives with the help of personal trainers.
Nice itself has lately been designated as a winter resort town of the French Riviera by UNESCO.
Anantara Plaza Nice will provide a variety of custom local excursions and off-the-beaten-path activities for guests to fully appreciate the city’s many attractions away from the hotel. Nice features an exciting nightlife along the Promenade des Anglais, a neighborhood farmers market at Cours Saleya, magnificent museums honoring the city’s rich artistic history, and yearly cultural events like the renowned Nice Jazz Festival.
Anantara Plaza Nice provides seamless event experiences and is easily accessible from the airport and the Acropolis Congress Center via tram or a 20-minute drive. The hotel has five brand-new multifunctional spaces with a combined area of 25 to 309 square meters, most of which have natural light, and can hold 300 people for sizable business or social meetings.
With direct access to the outside and breathtaking views of the bay, small creative workshops, custom private meals, rooftop weddings, and celebrations all benefit from the outdoors.
The cost of a Deluxe City View room at the Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel, which includes breakfast for two people, starts at €350.00.
