Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, will begin selling PCR travel tests for as little as £34.99.
The government-approved exams will be available in discount bundles and will be valid for the UK’s day-two, day-eight, and test to release arrivals programs.
On Monday, the retailer’s new service went live and was added to the UK government’s list of authorized testing providers.
The at-home examinations will be processed at Amazon’s Salford facility, which opened last year to handle employee testing.
Within 24 hours of receiving their sample at the laboratory, customers will obtain the results of their testing.
Amazon began offering home testing kits in the UK earlier this month, but they were not suited for travelers.
Access to “reliable and economical” testing remains a “vital tool in the fight against the spread of the virus,” according to Antoine Dreyfus, the Amazon director in charge of the company’s Covid-19 testing efforts in the UK.
“The Amazon test collection kit provides customers with the simplicity they’ve come to expect from Amazon.co.uk by allowing them to get highly accurate Covid-19 testing at an accessible price,” he continued.
