In order to connect its base in Tampere, Finland, with locations in France and Italy, airBaltic will launch a new service. Flights to Nice and Milan will start in May, just in time for the summer’s busiest travel period, the Latvian carrier announced last week.
The single kind of aircraft in the carrier’s fleet, an Airbus A220-300 jet, will be used to fly the routes. After more than a decade of service, airBaltic decommissioned the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 earlier this month, switching to an all-A220 fleet.
The airline estimates that a flight from Tampere to Nice would take three hours and 35 minutes, and a flight from Tampere to Milan will take three hours and 45 minutes.
According to Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, the airline is happy to include the new service in its network of routes. He remarked, “In a few months we will be celebrating the first anniversary of our base in Tampere, and so far the demand from Finnish passengers has met our expectations. Following the success, we at airBaltic are thrilled to add these two beautiful cities to our route network, as both Nice and Milan are very popular travel choices. We hope that this year the passenger demand will gradually grow even more, therefore we may launch additional new destinations to various business hubs and leisure destinations over time.”
Starting 2nd May 2023, there will be twice-weekly flights from Tampere to Nice, France. Beginning on May 4th, there will be twice-weekly flights to Milan as well. With five different ticket options, airBaltic has seats in both economy and business class to suit any traveler.
