Air France to Run Special Flights for the Cannes Film Festival from Los Angeles

This year’s Festival de Cannes, which is in its 76th year, is planned to run from 16th May to 27th May. As the official airline for the prestigious festival, Air France will run three special flights to provide a direct flight connection between the home of Hollywood, Los Angeles, and Nice, France.

Air France chose to offer special flights in response to the surge in demand from its American clients who want to travel during the spring to the French Riviera, in addition to the high demand for wanting to experience the ambiance of the renowned international film festival in Nice.

The Airbus A350-900, the flag carrier’s newest flagship aircraft, will fly these special routes between Los Angeles International Airport and Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. The Airbus widebody has 324 seats in total, including 34 in business class, 24 in premium economy, and 266 in economy.

Over the duration of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which runs from 19th – 23rd June, Air France will additionally run four special flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.

These flights, as opposed to those that are specifically for the Festival de Cannes, will be carried out by Air France’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet, which has recently undergone an upgrade to include the airline’s new long-haul cabins, which include full-flat beds in business class, recliner-style seat models in premium economy, and improved comfort for economy class seats.

Catching the special planes may be challenging for movie fans since they only operate on certain dates. But don’t worry; there are benefits to being the Festival de Cannes’ official airline partner for more than 40 years, including more than 1,500 hours of in-flight entertainment.

And not just any ordinary form of in-flight entertainment either, as the Air France-KLM Group’s French division will be screening a wide range of French-language films as well as films that have won prizes at previous Festival de Cannes. The best part is that these films will be accessible year-round in the airline’s long-haul cabins.
