An Omni Air International Boeing 767-300 ER will be wet-leased by Air Canada (AC) to support its seasonal direct service from Canada between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Manchester International Airport (MAN) in the United Kingdom. The Omni Air 767, which has flights scheduled until 14th July, will depart Toronto for Manchester starting on 17th June. From mid-July to 1st October, Air Canada will deploy its own Airbus A330-300, according to ch-Aviation.
Air Canada (run by Omni) will face off against Air Transat (TS), a rival Canadian airline, on the route this summer. Air Transat uses a combination of its own Airbus A321LR and A330-200 aircraft. Manchester is served year-round by Air Transat.
All of Air Canada’s Boeing 767-300s, which were then used on the Manchester route, were flown by its pre-pandemic subsidiary Air Canada Rouge. Air Canada was forced to wet lease or use its existing fleet of aircraft because it had to retire all of its 767s during the height of the pandemic. Six B777-200 (LR), 19 B777-300 (ER), eight B787-8, and thirty B787-9 widebody aircraft make up the airline’s widebody fleet.
Regarding its network in Great Britain and Ireland, Air Canada will resume flights between Edinburgh and Toronto. From London Heathrow to Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, and Dublin, Air Canada operates nonstop flights every day of the year.
Additionally, it offers nonstop summer seasonal services between Manchester and Toronto from Dublin to Vancouver and Montreal, as well as a fifth-freedom service from London Heathrow to Mumbai as part of Air Canada’s resumed service between Toronto and Mumbai via London Heathrow.
There are a few alternatives for international flights to the US and Canada from the biggest airport in northern England, with three current operators: Air Canada and Air Transat to Toronto, and Virgin Atlantic to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport. Other indirect choices include Air France via Paris, KLM via Amsterdam, Aer Lingus with its US preclearance through Dublin, or the reputable Icelandair, which provides direct services from its base at Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to 14 cities in Canada and the US.
