The third in the country and the first in San Francisco International Airport are now open thanks to Air Canada. 165 persons can fit in the Terminal 2 lounge’s 8,168 square feet.
At San Francisco International Airport, the national airline of Canada, Air Canada, has launched its 28th lounge worldwide and third in the United States. The 165-seat lounge offers high-end food and drink options, hands-free entrance, showers, a VIP area, art, and—perhaps the most interesting feature—an outdoor terrace with two vapour fireplaces. The only lounge with an outside patio is the one in San Francisco.
The new Maple Leaf Lounge showcases the Bay Area through its furnishings, architecture, and menu items. Passengers will have access to a variety of California wines from the renowned Napa Valley as well as beer from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Anchor Brewing at the bar. The San Francisco lounge will also feature a number of seafood delicacies, including the well-known cioppino fish stew. Along with the unusual food and drink options, there is also a hot and cold buffet, a carefully curated cocktail menu, and espresso.
“We’re thrilled to bring our Maple Leaf Lounge experience to San Francisco International Airport, giving our Bay Area customers a way to enjoy Air Canada’s award-winning product and glowing hearted hospitality from the moment they arrive. It’s one more way we’re investing to become San Francisco’s favourite way to travel internationally.”
By working together with United Airlines in the brand-new lounge in Terminal A in Newark, Air Canada is able to provide a desk for Air Canada inside the United Club and an access policy that is similar to that of the Maple Leaf Lounges.
In Newark, a new United lounge
United Airlines just inaugurated the first lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport’s newly renovated Terminal A. With 15,000 square feet of space, the new lounge can accommodate more than 300 people. There are many different types of sitting options, including recliners, couches, chairs, and personal workstations. The lounge’s decor, which drew inspiration from the New York/New Jersey region, includes handcrafted pieces created by regional artists as well as a feature by Antoinette Ellis-Williams.
“We’re excited to be part of Newark Liberty’s transformation and the first airline club in Terminal A. With the opening of this new United Club location, we’re providing customers with an elevated experience that’s reminiscent of the Newark community. We designed this club location with thoughtful touches like locally curated artwork and modern amenities, making it a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors.” – Andrew Nocella, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, United Airlines
Craft beers, saltwater taffy and a favourite, the official New Jersey gammon, egg and cheese sandwich, are just a few of the food and drink alternatives that reflect regional culture and cuisine. Showers are not available, however self-entry gates and a wellness room are offered. The 30,000-square-foot club at Terminal C is available to those who want to take a shower.
Four lounges, including those for American Airlines, American Express, and Delta Air Lines, opened at Terminal A this year; the United Club was the first.
