The newest AC Hotels by Marriott property has opened in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, bringing the brand’s “perfectly precise hotel” experience to the center of the Sunshine State. AC Hotels by Marriott is one of 30 exceptional brands in Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio.
The first visitors to the AC Hotel by Marriott St. Petersburg Downtown were welcomed on Tuesday, February 28 and were shown around the hotel, which was infused with refinement and brimming with useful amenities. Intuitive technology, commissioned art, and thoughtful personal amenities are just a few of the features that make the hotel unique. It has nothing that less sophisticated guests would want.
The brand-new 8-story AC Hotel features 172 sleek, contemporary guest rooms, 12 of which are suites, 2,500 square feet of dynamic communal space, 1,800 square feet of meeting and event space, an outdoor pool, and a well-equipped fitness facility.
The collaborative lobby has the brand’s iconic AC Kitchen for breakfasts with European influences and an AC Lounge for evenings filled with specialty drinks, local brews, and shareable meals. Cane & Barrel, a restaurant and bar with a Cuban theme on the 8th-floor rooftop, places a strong focus on rum. The facility, which was created to reflect the vibrant spirit of Havana nights, offers seats both inside in the lounge and outside on a large terrace facing Tampa Bay.
In fact, Cane & Barrel serves up the large format drink with a historical touch in an unique daily punch bowl. True punch is a concoction of alcoholic beverages, citrus juice, sugar, water, and spices that was originally created in the ancient East Indies and carried to the West by thirsty sailors.
Within walking distance of the AC Hotel St. Petersburg Downtown, which is situated in the waterfront arts district, are more than 100 eateries, breweries, parks, and cultural events. It’s a part of the Ascent St. Petersburg mixed-use development, which also includes a 36-story luxury apartment tower and 5,500 square feet of retail space. Greystar Real Estate Partners and Concord Hospitality developed the project. Hotel project collaborators include R2L:Architects for architecture; DLR Group for hotel interior design; and Ellis Adams Group for Cane & Barrel concept and interior design, with Greystar serving as general contractor.
The Johnson Group subsidiary OTO Development has acquired and will manage the hotel.
The AC Hotel St. Petersburg Downtown joins the OTO Development owned portfolio of AC Hotels as the sixth AC Hotel with this acquisition, which was arranged by Preston Reid, formerly of Berkadia. In addition, the business is now building AC Hotels in Naples and Jacksonville, Florida. The others are in Bethesda, Maryland; South San Francisco, California; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Spartanburg, South Carolina; and Washington, D.C. Host Hotels & Resorts’s AC Hotel Scottsdale North is also managed by OTO.
