50th anniversary celebrations at Disney in Florida

The most magical place on Earth will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The celebrations will be taking place at all four of its theme parks in Florida towards the end of the year.

Starting in October 2021, Disney will embark upon an 18-month celebration dubbed “The World’s Most Magical Celebration”. Walt Disney World Resort in Florida first opened on October 1, 1971.

Following its makeover in 2020, the Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park will be decorated with new gold bunting and embellishments. Magic Kingdom will be illuminated “with a dazzling radiance that sparkles with pixie dust”. Also to be decorated for the occasion are The Hollywood Tower Hotel at Hollywood Studios, The Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom and Spaceship Earth at Epcot.

Minnie & Mickey Mouse will be the hosts of the celebration and they will be dressed in custom-made “sparkling new looks” for the occasion. The world-famous hosts will be joined by other Walt Disney World cast members.

With ever increasing rumours of the USA opening up entry to British travellers, it is hoped families will be able to travel to Florida during October half term and over the Christmas break.
