The launch of the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District, the brand’s much awaited premiere at the heart of Dallas, Texas’ vibrant cultural arts sector, is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of 31 remarkable hotel brands. The first JW Marriott hotel in Dallas is in one of the top cultural hotspots in the South because it is just a few short blocks from the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Centre, Crow Museum of Asian Art, Meyerson Symphony Centre, Moody Performance Hall, and the Winspear Opera House. The hotel’s elegant yet warm design immerses visitors in an exhibition of artistic influences and experiences while offering the company’s distinctive brand of attentive luxury and hospitality.
It is only fitting that JW Marriott Dallas Arts District is a jewel box of fine art, as seen throughout the hotel’s architecture, design, dining, and amenities, all while honouring JW Marriott’s principles of prioritising the mind, body, and soul. Dallas has the largest contiguous urban arts district in the United States and holds an official “Cultural District” designation by the Texas Commission on the Arts.
With a variety of cultural and arts venues conveniently located just steps away from the hotel, guests’ senses can be tested, focus increased, and stress reduced.
“We are excited to bring JW Marriott’s legacy of extraordinary hospitality, thoughtful design and enriching experiences to the Dallas Arts District,” said Bruce Rohr, Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott. “Much like the introspective way guests explore the hotel’s neighboring cultural institutions, JW Marriott Dallas Arts District will provide travelers with even more ways to enjoy every moment to the fullest and find inspiration and moments of mindfulness during their stay.”
The architecture of the hotel features numerous artistic interpretations of concepts important to Dallas’ expansion and development. A city with a long history of vision, innovation, fortitude, and perseverance is one that started as a trading post in 1841 and developed into a modern global centre of trade and the arts. For the hotel’s public spaces, more than 20 original works of art in different media that capture the unique characteristics of the North Texas region were commissioned. The elegant 267-room hotel’s architecture and interior design, as well as that of its three restaurants, two lobby areas, and more than 20,000 square feet of adaptable conference space, were created in partnership by renowned hospitality design titans HKS Inc. and Looney Associates.
The hotel’s Arts District neighbours, many of which are museums and performance venues with historic architecture, are visible from a big mid-air pool and deck with cabanas that provides stunning views of downtown Dallas. The hotel’s sky lobby, which is located on the 11th level, is a double-volume museum-like area with a floating staircase and glass railing. There are exhibitions of enormous original artworks there, including a brass and metal installation made by Dallas-based artist Chris Judy. It has shades of delicate harp strings, sheet music, and Winspear Opera House chandeliers.
JW Marriott Dallas Arts District offers three elevated dining options, each of which has a meaningful connection to the surrounding artistic community. One of these venues is called Margaret’s, a ranch-to-table restaurant situated on the 11th floor. It serves all three meals and pays tribute to philanthropist Margaret McDermott, a dedicated supporter of Dallas’ fine arts institutions.
Margaret’s menu reflects the seasons and features locally sourced ingredients. Some of its noteworthy dishes include Beef Carpaccio, prepared tableside and infused with smoky flavors, as well as a mouthwatering 72-hour Hickory Smoked Prime Bone-in Beef Short Rib served with house barbecue sauce and Texas jalapeño elote. Another delightful option is the Texas Iberico Carbonara, which showcases handmade pasta complemented by a creamy pecorino sauce and braised local Iberico pork cheeks. This dish is thoughtfully enriched with English peas, wild Texas mushrooms, and a confit yolk, all topped with brown butter toasted oreganata.
In homage to Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night, the sensual mid-air club known as Vincent’s Sky club serves cocktails and small plates while providing views of the Dallas night sky. The stylish area has wraparound vistas, 40-foot ceilings, inspiring art, and weather protection so that visitors can take in the ambiance no matter the weather.
Visitors are invited to continue talks at 800 North, a street-level cocktail lounge that is appropriately named after the hotel’s address, 800 North Harwood Street, after inspiring encounters at nearby museums and fine arts venues. The gloomy and inviting 800 North offers light appetisers, finely picked wines, and cutting-edge, trendy drinks. The JW Garden, a cutting-edge hydroponic Farmshelf system where herbs are grown for garnishes, in cocktails, and as subtle ingredients in various dishes, including the Texas Iberico carbonara and smoked Black Angus carpaccio served at Margaret’s, will be used by all three of the restaurants.
JW Market, which is situated on the 11th level close to the grand staircase, offers gourmet pastries baked daily, nutritious to-go breakfast and lunch options, and Illy coffee goods.
The hotel has over 20,000 square feet of adaptable meeting and event space, including the best banqueting and ballrooms on the market. The 7,870 square foot Harwood Ballroom has enough space for large meetings and has a modern “knife’s edge” lighting element in the ceiling, while the carpet design honours Dallas’ renowned Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The Flora Ballroom, which is 3,000 square feet in size, has a unique ceiling design that resembles wavy sound waves.
The Pearl Room, a brand-new feature for JW Marriott, is an all-white room with hardwood floors that can be tailored to clients’ demands. The 3,555 square feet of flexible space in The Pearl are perfect for high-level brainstorming and strategy discussions. The Pearl Room is a JW Marriott hotel’s first blank canvas.
The hotel has constructed four quiet locations for guests to covertly go away, take a break, or connect with their thoughts, tucked into crevices inside the lobby and pre-function areas. For those who require it, comfortable upholstered seating in soothing hues and textures is available.
Large groups can congregate for breakfast or beverages before or after conference sessions at the hotel or in the nearby Arts District thanks to the Executive Lounge’s ample space and flexibility.
“Guests arriving at JW Marriott Dallas Arts District are sure to be wowed by the spectacular design, works of art and breathtaking views, but the experience doesn’t stop there,” said Mike Culver, General Manager. “Our expert associates look forward with great anticipation to welcoming our guests and surpassing their expectations for warm, inviting luxury in this cultural hub neighborhood.”
