After a three-year absence, Egyptair will resume operations in Japan in September with flights to Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT). Additionally, it has announced the beginning of flights to India and Libya, beginning in August and September, respectively.
In accordance with the president’s order to step up operations to strengthen the country’s civil aviation sector, the flag carrier is introducing new long-haul routes and reintroducing previously served locations.
To Tokyo Once More
As of 12th September 2023, Egyptair will once again offer service to Japan. Utilising the airline’s Boeing 777-300 aircraft, the service will run twice weekly between Cairo International Airport (CAI) and Tokyo Narita. Economy and business class are also accessible on the route, and it provides a variety of rates.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak forced the airline to stop operating, the Egyptian airline had its final flight to Japan in early 2020. Egyptair is introducing a number of foreign routes in an effort to increase its competitiveness on a regional and international scale as North African air travel is above pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
Tuesdays and Thursdays will see departures from Cairo and Tokyo, with Wednesdays and Fridays seeing the return of passengers. The first aircraft will leave CAI at 23:45 local time and land in NRT at 18:30 local time, arriving after 12 hours and 45 minutes. The return flight will leave NRT at 21:30 and land in CAI at 04:40 the following morning.
With 297 seats in the economy class and 49 in the business class, Egyptair’s Triple Seven has a two-class layout. This summer, the airline will be the only one offering flights between CAI and NRT. Tokyo has two airports, Narita International and Haneda International (HND), however Egyptair will only fly to Narita as it did before the outbreak.
Delhi flights
Additionally, the North African airline has announced the beginning of international service to New Delhi, India. In addition to the advertisement on its social media channels, this was also made public by Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Abbas Helmi, who emphasised the significance of growing and improving the effectiveness of the nation’s air transportation business.
On August 1, 2023, Egyptair will begin operating four times weekly flights between Cairo and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). The Airbus A320neo will be used to fly flights on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, though connections are possible.
The same days will be used for return flights, which can run up to 6 hours and 45 minutes. The A320neo of the North African airline likewise has a two-class layout, with 126 economy class seats and 16 business class seats. With ambient lighting, onboard WiFi, and in-flight entertainment, single-aisle aeroplanes provide a superior cabin experience.
The flag airline of Egypt will expand operations in the regional market in addition to serving foreign destinations, according to the Civil Aviation Minister. Although exact dates have not been announced, the airline will begin operating flights from Cairo to Libya’s Misrata International Airport (MRA).
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasised the need for adopting advanced systematic studies for the improvement, modernization, and increased dependability of air transport in the area during a meeting with the aviation ministry. He also emphasised the advantages of the nation’s position, which Egyptair will use to its advantage in order to grow.
