Viking will launch year-round European river cruising with a new winter route. On 23rd December, the 10-day Treasures of the Rhine cruise departs from Amsterdam and arrives in Basel after passing through Cologne, Heidelberg, and Strasbourg.
With year-round access to Europe’s rivers and access to popular sights when there are generally fewer tourists, Viking believes that this decision makes it the first queue to do so. If you make your reservation by 30th June, prices begin at £1,595.
Viking Alruna and Viking Tialfi, two identical 190-passenger river ships, are being used by the firm to operate the itinerary in both directions.
Chairman of Viking, Torstein Hagen, said: “The Middle Rhine is one of our most popular destinations.”
“With constantly changing views of hilltop castles, historic towns, and terraced vineyards along the steep valley sides, it is a region that will always be best explored by the river.”
“Many of our guests have sailed the Rhine during other seasons, so we are pleased to offer a new option for those who may be interested in experiencing Europe during a quieter time of year.”
