In advance of its first regular service to Verona, Italy, and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY Airlines last week announced ticket sales. With this change, airline customers will have additional options for international travel.
Due to its dedication to providing outstanding service and stress-free travel, PLAY claims it has emerged as a top option for tourists. Next year is anticipated to see the debut of the airline’s newest additions to its route network.
In a statement, PLAY Airlines CEO Birgir Jónsson discussed the new service, “We are excited to add Verona and Fuerteventura to our growing list of destinations and to offer citizens of Verona and Fuerteventura the opportunity to visit Iceland with PLAY Airlines. We believe these new destinations will provide travelers with even more options for a fantastic travel experience.”
Beginning on Saturday, 20th January 2024, PLAY will begin flying between Reykjavik, Iceland, and Verona. Italy’s culture, cuisine, and natural beauty are all present in the city of Verona, which is located in the Vento area.
“Visitors can indulge in the city’s delicious culinary scene and enjoy a glass of local wine while exploring the historic center, or take a day trip to the nearby ski resorts for some winter fun,” the airline said. “Some of the best ski resorts near Verona include Madonna di Campiglio, Folgaria, and Alpe Cimbra.”
Seasonal service for flights to Verona is expected to terminate on 24th February 2024.
PLAY will begin service to Fuerteventura this December to cater to any travelers who wish to escape the winter cold in Iceland. On 20th December 2023, the airline will inaugurate flights to the second-largest Canary Island of Spain once a week on Wednesdays.
“This stunning island in the Canary Islands is renowned for its warm weather and sandy beaches,” the carrier explained. “Visitors can explore the island’s unique landscapes, go hiking or surfing, and experience the local culture.”
Additionally seasonal, the service to Fuerteventura is anticipated to run through 10th April 2024.
Additionally, PLAY noted that the airline provides travelers from Verona and Fuerteventura with a number of excursions throughout Iceland. Flying to Reykjavik and connecting through the airline enables travelers to experience Iceland’s attractions and experiences, including lagoons, waterfalls, and the Northern Lights.
PLAY has greatly expanded its route network as of the time of the announcement of the new seasonal flights to Verona and Fuerteventura. In the previous two months, the airline announced the addition of additional flights to Warsaw, Amsterdam, and Washington, DC.
The airline carried over 200,000 passengers in the first three months of the year, according to the first quarter financial report it released last week. As a result, PLAY’s first-quarter revenues increased by more than three times compared to the same period last year. Nearly two years after starting operations, the airline just celebrated flying its one-millionth passenger in February.
Nine aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family make up the fledgling airline’s fleet; a tenth aircraft is currently being prepped for service.
