Beginning on 5th July, Emirates will introduce a new daily service between Dubai and Montreal. In addition to its current passenger services to Toronto, Montreal will serve as Emirates’ second Canadian gateway.
The megacarrier based in the UAE, Emirates, has stated that it will launch a new route between Dubai and Montreal later this year as part of its aspirations to expand operations to Canada. The new location joins Toronto, which has been served by the airline since 2007, as the second Canadian city to get service.
The airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will fly the daily flights with the flight numbers EK243 and EK244 between Dubai (DXB) and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). Each journey will have three classes of in-flight service, with the aircraft configured with 304 seats in economy class, 42 lie-flat business class seats, and eight first class suites.
Emirates has stated that the opening of service to Montreal coincides with efforts by the UAE and Canada to strengthen their bilateral commercial relations. The two hope to improve trade flows and business ties while also promoting benefits to the aviation and tourist industries.
The additional daily flights to Montreal will aid in meeting the enormous demand for direct flights between Dubai and Canada, especially to the two main urban centers. The airline also offers services to and from Dubai for travelers from Montreal and the surrounding area, allowing them to go on to Emirates’ extensive worldwide network of over 130 destinations in over 70 countries and territories.
Adnam Kazim, Emirates’ chief commercial officer, announced the airline’s intentions to launch service on the new route. “Emirates is excited to launch our second gateway into Canada as we expand our reach in the country with direct services from our hub in Dubai. As a major metropolitan center and as Canada’s second-largest city, we are pleased to add Montréal to our growing global network of over 130 destinations and strengthening our coverage in the Americas to reach 18 points served by our services from Dubai.”
Adnam Kazim continued, “We have been serving customers with passenger and cargo services to Toronto for over 15 years, and when we begin services to Montréal in July, customers will have more choice when planning their travel, whether for business, leisure, education, or for visiting family and friends. With our expanded reach into the country, we look forward to facilitating new trade lanes, which will bring a host of benefits to Canadian businesses and exporters in addition to promoting tourism into more cities and generating more jobs across all sectors, including those directly serving the aviation industry,”
Flight EK243, which will operate as of 5th July, will leave Dubai at 2:30 in the morning and arrive in Montreal at 8:00 that same day. EK244’s return flight from Montreal departs at 10:20 and lands in Dubai at 06:30 the following morning.
For business and leisure tourists, as well as people visiting family and friends from Dubai, India, Lebanon, Singapore, and other South East Asian and African nations, the new route provides easy incoming connections to Montreal and Canada. For the numerous foreign students who are seeking higher education in Canada, it will also open up a new path.
The new service’s schedule will provide Canadian passengers with convenient access to popular vacation spots outside of Dubai, including Thailand, Lebanon, India, Bali, and French-speaking Indian Ocean nations like Seychelles, among others. Bookings for flights departing from Montreal can be made through the airline’s website, the Emirates App, or travel brokers beginning today.
Enhancing cooperation with Air Canada
Emirates is now able to extend its current codeshare agreement with Air Canada thanks to the addition of Montreal. Customers will have access to a wide range of destinations thanks to the combined efforts of the two carriers.
Beyond Toronto, 19 Canadian cities are now accessible to Emirates’ clients in addition to the over 130 places it already services. Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Halifax are among the domestic locations from Montreal that are most likely to be in demand.
Additionally, passengers on Emirates flights have access to nearly 140 Air Canada interline connections, including 94 routes between Canada and the US, South America, and the Caribbean, and 27 sites within Canada. The convenience of single-ticket itineraries and easier connections would be appreciated by passengers.
Similar to this, thanks to the collaboration agreement, Air Canada customers can travel to Dubai on Emirates and reach 17 cities in Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, and the Far East. Members of Emirates Skywards can accrue Miles on all flights with Air Canada that qualify and use their Miles to purchase reward tickets all throughout the airline’s network.
Since 2009, Emirates has flown between Dubai and Toronto utilizing its flagship A380 aircraft, which it has been doing since 2007. Emirates started providing a daily A380 service to Toronto this month.
Emirates offers cargo flights to Canada in addition to passenger services to help in the international transportation of commodities and merchandise. In the belly holds of its Boeing 777 passenger planes, it can transport 20 tonnes of cargo, and on its A380, it can transport up to 15 tonnes.
The Middle East and North Africa’s main export market for Canada is the United Arab Emirates. Over the previous five years, bilateral commerce between Canada and the UAE increased by 53%, reaching C$2.6 billion (US$1.92 billion) in 2022. The expected value of the UAE’s foreign direct investment stock in Canada in 2021 was C$1.3 billion (US$960 million), per statistics provided to Emirates by Statistics Canada.
According to data provided to Emirates by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, Canada is one of the top 20 source markets for inbound tourism, with 158,000 Canadian visitors in 2022, more than double the number in 2021.
Emirates will now fly to 16 locations in the Americas with the addition of Montreal to its ever-expanding network, including two sites in Canada, 12 in the United States, and an additional four locations in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.
