Today marks the beginning of the Disney Magic’s program of cruises departing from New Orleans. The Disney Cruise Line ship will offer a number of four- to six-night excursions departing from the Louisiana port following its repositioning from Galveston.
The first voyage, which lasts for five nights, travels to the Western Caribbean and stops at Cozumel and Puerto Progresso in Mexico. The program also includes two whole days at sea before the departure back to New Orleans.
The New Orleans program, which runs until the middle of April, includes further brief trips to Mexico as well as a six-night trip to the Western Caribbean in March.
On the seven-day cruise, Cozumel and George Town are visited in addition to the Cayman Islands and Mexico.
The Disney Magic is scheduled to relocate to San Juan in May after the run of cruises from New Orleans.
The Magic was Disney’s first cruise ship, and it sailed in 1998. The 85,000-ton ship, which was built by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri, underwent a thorough restoration in 2018.
During the time, various new areas and new experiences were added to the 1,750-guest ship, including a revamped teen club, a brand-new café for adults only, and the Club Disney Junior in Disney’s Oceaneer Club for kids.
Another addition is the restaurant Rapunzel’s Royal Table, which is decorated to look like a regal ballroom and is themed after the Disney film “Tangled.”
The Cove Café, an adult-only refuge, was also renovated on the ship and now has a new tropical décor.
The Signals Bar, the Senses Spa, and the Quiet Cove Pool were among the other areas renovated during the refit.
In 2024, the Disney Magic will run a similar New Orleans itinerary, providing a total of seven cruises from the port between January and March.
