Two additional Florida routes were just made available for purchase by European low-cost airline Norse Atlantic Airways from London’s Gatwick Airport. The airline will start operating flights from London to Hollywood-Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) by the end of May.
Norse Atlantic announced two new routes from Gatwick that would be added to the present daily service to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City, continuing the trend of summer expansion. In May and June, Norse’s new Orlando route will offer four weekly trips; during the busiest summer travel season, there will be daily flights. Fort Lauderdale flights will operate three times per week through June before increasing to four times per week for the remainder of the summer.
All flights will be carried out on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with an Economy and Premium class arrangement. Despite the lack of lie-flat chairs in business or first class, Norse claims that its premium cabin has an industry-leading pitch at 43″ and 12″ of recline.
“We are very pleased to announce two new routes from London Gatwick to the popular holiday destination of Florida. In addition to our current daily New York flights, we will also be releasing for sale further destinations between London and the US by the end of February. As a result, our UK-based airline, Norse Atlantic UK, will serve more destinations to the US from London Gatwick than any other carrier this summer.”– Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO, Norse Atlantic Airways.
Passengers have access to more than 600 weekly connections across the world via Norse’s partners easyJet, Norwegian, and Spirit Airlines. The airline is offering 144 flights to the US this month from Berlin, Oslo, and London Gatwick. Norse will provide 222 flights to and from the US by the end of May. In May, the low-cost carrier has 284 flights planned across its network.
Charles Duncan was appointed as the new president of Norse Atlantic Airways late last week. Duncan has held senior management positions at Continental Airlines, United Airlines, WestJet, and Swoop throughout the past 25 years in both Canada and the US. Duncan obtained incredibly useful experience at each airline, turning him become a “Swiss-Army knife” and preparing him for his position with Norse.
Duncan said: “Norse Atlantic Airways is on track to become the first successful low-cost long-haul airline, and I am very pleased to be joining at this important stage in the company’s growth. The journey to reach the full potential of Norse Atlantic’s business model is well underway, and I look forward to being part of this dynamic and agile company.”
