Iceland Parliament Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, has welcomed visitors after much anticipation. The 163-room hotel is located next to the Icelandic parliament building, Alingi, in a complex of seven newly constructed and renovated structures. It is the newest addition to Curio Collection by Hilton, a global portfolio of more than 130 unique hotels and resorts that have been hand-selected for their distinctive personalities.
The building’s significant past is preserved through new work, renovation, and meticulous preservation, adding appealing class to the urban landscape. The restoration of the old Landsmahsi, which represents the exquisite and traditional architectural style of the nearby Austurvöllur Square, is the most conspicuous feature between the Ladies’ School and Independence Hall, to the modern new edifice.
With Telebar and Hjá Jóni Restaurant allowing visitors and residents to take in the nation’s capital in what was once the Iceland Telecom headquarters, the hotel offers more public access than ever before in keeping with the local social culture. A portion of the greatest privately owned art collection is also on exhibit inside the hotel, providing guests with exclusive access to renowned Icelandic art.
The hotel opens in the most prominent district of the city, close to Reykjavik Cathedral, Harpa Concert Hall, City Hall, and the fashionable port area. It is also surrounded by three bustling squares. Additionally, the surrounding ancient Reykjavik harbor gives breathtaking views of the midnight sun and northern lights in the height of summer.
Local Design & Architecture: The hotel’s 163 guest rooms, family rooms, and suites, each with a 55-inch HDTV, an espresso maker, and a mini-fridge, represent the various eras of Icelandic history. As a result, the Iceland Parliament Hotel is a striking landmark in the heart of the city.
The Hjá Jóni Restaurant, which serves regional specialties with a global flair, is surrounded by big windows that frame views of Austurvöllur Central Square and the statue of Jón Sigurdsson, the 19th-century founding father of Icelandic freedom. The name Hjá Jóni, which translates as “By John,” honors the national hero and his contribution to Iceland’s modern democracy.
Telebar: The vibrant Telebar takes its name from the hotel’s main building’s historic use as Iceland Telecom’s headquarters and a hub of global communication during the 20th century. With the help of Telebar and Hjá Jóni Restaurant, a peaceful haven and a hive of activity can be created.
Spa & Fitness: The hotel has a stunning spa area with authentic Icelandic geothermal hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms. It also provides massage and wellness services. The fitness center is always accessible to visitors.
Meetings & Events: Iceland Parliament Reykjavik offers a variety of function rooms and event spaces as a premier conference and event venue in Reykjavik.
One of the most opulent and majestic banquet rooms in the city, Independence Hall has just undergone renovations and can seat up to 200 people for the most important of occasions. Other event venues include the Ladies School, which can accommodate up to 100 guests and is the ideal location for both formal and informal gatherings.
The Iceland Parliament Hotel is a member of Hilton Honors, one of Hilton’s 18 distinctive hotel brands and a guest reward program that has won numerous awards.
