The newest hotel in Mercure’s expanding portfolio in Japan is the Mercure Hida Takayama, which is situated in the ancient city of Takayama, Gifu. Mercure is a top brand worldwide. The hotel, which is scheduled to open today, 20th December 2022, will draw warmth and calm with its recreation of Takayama’s traditional handicrafts and local hotel experiences.
The Mercure Hida Takayama is well located in the center of the city and is only a four-minute walk from JR Takayama Station. It has 161 exquisitely designed guestrooms and seven different accommodation types to suit different travel needs, including connecting rooms and accessible rooms.
A welcoming lounge by the hotel’s main door is furnished with a fireplace and serves as a gathering spot for guests as they enter, while a pleasant lobby on the first floor has a modern wooden chandelier and shelves displaying local artwork. Hobar, a restaurant and bar with a Mediterranean flair, gets its name from the Japanese word for magnolia leaves, which are historically used to prepare the local meal of the Gifu Prefecture. Hobar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner using seasonal ingredients and the renowned Hida beef.
The hotel’s top level has both indoor and outdoor onsens, which provide visitors a haven of relaxation after a long day of touring.
For couples and families who like some privacy as they relax and enjoy Takayama’s breathtaking environment, three private onsens are ideal.
The city of Takayama is located in the Gifu Prefecture’s mountainous Hida area. Bus transportation makes it simple to get to the well-known Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With its conserved wooden merchant houses and museums, Takayama’s Sanmachi Historic District will take visitors back in time to the Edo Period. For those looking for a taste of the area, there are many unique sake breweries and local delights. The city is particularly well-known for its twice-yearly Takayama Festival, one of the most exquisite celebrations of spring and autumn.
One of the largest midscale hotel chains in the world, Mercure, provides hotels that are locally inspired, capturing the unique personality and culture of each location it calls home. Through design, food, and genuine hotel experiences, Mercure lives up to its brand promise and promotes the idea that travel ties visitors to the area and its residents.
In Japan, Accor now manages 19 hotels in eight different cities. Mercure Hida Takayama will join a group of over 810 Mercure addresses globally across 60 countries as the eighth Mercure hotel in Japan.
