Sri Lanka Drops Covid-19 Restrictions on International Arrivals

The Sri Lankan government has lifted Covid-19 restrictions on international arrivals.

Travelers are no longer required to present Covid-19 vaccination certificates or negative test results.

However, a statement from the Department of Health added: “If foreign nationals/tourists become Covid-19 positive after arriving to Sri Lanka, they should isolate for seven days in a private hospital/hotel/place of residence.

“The cost of treatment/isolation should be borne by foreign nationals/tourists.”

The UK Foreign Office has updated its advice to Sri Lanka to reflect the changes, but added: “On 17 June, the Government of Sri Lanka announced that Covid-19 travel insurance is no longer mandatory for all visitors. However, it is important to ensure you take out comprehensive travel insurance before you travel abroad.”

All visitors are encouraged to apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka.

Visa facilities are available on arrival, but the FCDO recommends applying for an ETA before travel “to facilitate travel and avoid delays in arrival”.
