With the opening of two additional routes in 2023, the Cook Islands hopes to increase the number of visitors.
Beginning in May 2023, Hawaiian Airlines will fly once per week between Honolulu and Rarotonga. Fares will go on sale today, 7th December.
Jetstar will start operating a twice-weekly flight from Sydney to Rarotonga in June, and tickets are now on sale.
According to Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown, tourism is the “backbone of the economy,” accounting for 75% of GDP, and the new routes are crucial for the small island nation.
“The new services provide a major boost to our tourism sector and the financial impact for local tourism operators and the nation is significant,” he said.
“We are delighted that Hawaiian Airlines and Jetstar are making this commitment to the Cook Islands.”
