MSC Cruises Revealed the Name of its Second World-Class Ship

During the ceremony for cutting the first ship in the new class, MSC World Europa, MSC Cruises revealed the name of its second World-class ship.

The fourth new flagship to be stationed in the continent, MSC World America is scheduled to enter service in 2025 and launch a string of North American voyages.

The statement comes only a few weeks before the debut of World Europa, which will be among the first cruise ships in the world to use fuel cell technology and one of the “biggest liquefied natural gas-powered cruise ships” in the world.

The vessel, which was handed over to the line on Monday (24th October) by shipbuilders Chantiers de l’Atlantique, was also built with a “innovative” hull shape to reduce resistance through the water.

The World Europa has a variety of energy-saving technology installed throughout the ship, such as modern air conditioning systems, LED lighting, and smart ventilation. Smart management systems are also used to further improve the energy-saving profile.

The ship has a Y-shaped aft structure that leads to the 104-meter-long, partially open, partially covered Europa Promenade, which has views of the ocean. The promenade, which has The Venom Drop, an 11-deck-high slide as its architectural centerpiece, is visible from new balcony cabins.

A microbrewery, gin bar, healthy juice bar, coffee emporium, and tea house are among the firsts offered by MSC World Europa. There are 13 different eating options on board the ship, including two new specialty eateries: Chef’s Garden Kitchen and La Pescaderia, which will provide seasonal farm-to-ocean cuisine.

Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s cruise division Pierfrancesco Vago stated:  “We are proud to welcome MSC World Europa to our fleet, our 20th ship and the first to be LNG-powered. This groundbreaking vessel represents the next phase in our journey toward net zero and sustainable cruising and a symbol of our unwavering commitment to both.”
