After Wizz Air canceled nine winter sun routes from Cardiff airport, Ryanair stepped up with “rescue pricing.”
Ryanair only runs one route from the Welsh airport and the rest from Bristol.
The Irish no-frills airline is providing tickets starting at £39.99 to customers who had reservations for Wizz Air’s canceled flights to Cardiff beginning on 19th September.
Wizz Air will only operate in Milan and Bucharest from Cardiff throughout the winter starting on 30th October after discontinuing service to Alicante, Corfu, Heraklion, Faro, Larnaca, Lanzarote, Palma, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Tenerife.
Ryanair is providing substitute flights from Cardiff and Bristol to Faro, as well as alternate flights from Bristol to Alicante, Malaga, Palma, and Tenerife, for travel through the end of October. However, the special tickets must be reserved by Monday at midnight (15th August).
Dara Brady, head of marketing and digital for Ryanair, said: “While Wizz Air is cutting flights to top European destinations such as Faro and Tenerife, Ryanair continues to operate a full schedule with over 3,000 daily flights and we are ready to accommodate the holiday needs of families flying from Cardiff who have been affected by these Wizz Air disruptions.”
