As it nears completion on a property in New York, Aman will open its first new hotel since the outbreak began.
The opening of Aman New York is the brand’s “biggest investment into a single destination to date,” completing the transformation of the city’s famed Crown Building.
Reservations open on 25th July, with stays beginning on August 2 at the brand’s 34th hotel worldwide.
Aman New York is located on the junction of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, and guests begin their stay on the 14th floor, beneath a double-height atrium designed by Jean Michel Gathy of Denniston.
The hotel includes 83 suites and 22 branded homes and is the group’s second urban hotel, following Aman Tokyo.
“Our strategy to bring the coveted Aman lifestyle to urban destinations continues apace. A milestone opening, Aman New York marks our greatest investment into a single destination to date,” said Vlad Doronin, chairman and chief executive of Aman.
“The hotel introduces an entirely new concept to the city through expansive and unmatched amenities, which propels the brand forward, delivering a guest experience like no other.”
The hotel’s wellness offering is a focal point, with the main Aman Spa spanning three levels and featuring a 20-metre indoor pool flanked by fire pits and daybeds.
Two huge “Spa Houses” have double treatment rooms, Banya and Hammam rooms, as well as private outdoor patios with hot and cold plunge pools, daybeds, and fireplaces. Aman is marketing its Spa Houses as a novel concept for cities, capable of providing an experience equivalent to that of its most isolated resorts.
Arva, an Italian restaurant, and Nama, Aman’s rendition of Japan’s washoku heritage, with a Japanese hinoki wood counter for omakase-style fine dining, are two dining alternatives. There’s also a Wine Library, and all three areas are connected by a wraparound Garden Terrace.
The 650-square-metre outdoor space includes mirrored pools and spectacular fire pits, as well as a folding glass ceiling. The Jazz Club will also provide a nightlife component to the hotel.
Every suite features a working fireplace, which is a first in New York, and the 11 Grand Suites on the 11th and 12th floors may be customized with additional bedrooms to create family-sized quarters.
Aman New York joins sibling properties in the United States, Amangani in Wyoming and Amangiri in Utah, with Aman Miami set to open in 2024, one of nine other projects in the pipeline globally.
Janu, the group’s recently created second brand, which means “soul” in Sanskrit, is also building three hotels in Tokyo, Saudi Arabia, and Montenegro.
Aman also added an Italian mountain hotel to its repertoire in 2020, with the addition of the family-run Rosa Alpina.
