The Covid requirements to enter Spain have been extended until 15th May, meaning that most unvaccinated adults are still barred from entering.
The news was announced in the Spanish Gazette by the Ministry of the Interior, which stated that an order that was first imposed in July 2020 would be extended.
According to the order, “This order will take effect from 12.00pm on July 22, 2020, until 12.00pm on May 15, 2022, without prejudice to its eventual modification to respond to a change in circumstances or new recommendations in the field of the European Union.”
Unvaccinated travelers over the age of 18 can only enter Spain if they can demonstrate confirmation of recovery from Covid within the previous six months.
Children aged 12 to 17 can enter with documentation of a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours of arrival in Spain, while children under the age of 12 are exempt from any travel restrictions.
Adults who have been vaccinated must present proof of vaccination within the last 270 days or proof of booster vaccination.
The rule extension makes Spain one of the few European countries to keep such severe Covid laws, despite the fact that Spain recently loosened its indoor face mask policy, allowing people to enter pubs, restaurants, stores, and movies without wearing a mask.
