After acquiring slots from rival budget carrier Vueling, Wizz Air is expanding its eastern European network from Luton airport.
From 11th May, Wizz Air will enhance frequency on six existing routes – Bacau, Craiova, Iasi, Sibiu, and Timisoara in Romania, as well as Wroclaw in Poland – thanks to the addition of two daily slot pairs.
The airline will enhance its capacity by 167,000 seats as a result of the expansion, strengthening its position as the largest carrier at Luton Airport, with over 5.6 million seats available for the summer.
From Bedfordshire Airport, where it initially opened a base in 2017, the airline serves 75 destinations. At Luton Airport, Wizz Air is hiring cabin and flight crew members.
Wizz Air opened a base at Cardiff Airport last week, prompting this change.
Marion Geoffroy, UK managing director, said: “This announcement highlights our continued commitment to London Luton airport, which was our first ever base in the UK.
“Acquiring two additional daily slots will allow us to provide customers with even more ultra low-fare travel opportunities.
“2022 is off to a great start, especially with the lifting of Covid-19 travel restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers.”
