Scoot, a low-cost carrier, launched a Gatwick-Bangkok-Singapore service on Tuesday (22nd March).
Scoot, a Singapore Airlines subsidiary, will fly three times per week. Its inauguration coincides with Gatwick’s reopening of the South Terminal on Sunday (27th March).
British Airways will relocate its daily flight to Islamabad from Heathrow to Gatwick on Sunday. Tui Airways will restart Orlando flights the next day.
Air Transat will begin flying to Montreal on 2nd May and Quebec on 11th May as part of its Gatwick expansion. The new service from London to Quebec will be the only direct flight between the two cities.
British Airways will resume service to New York on 28th May, while Qatar Airways will resume daily service to Doha on 5th June.
Norse Atlantic Airways, a new airline, is also set to begin operations. This summer, Gatwick will offer a total of 30 long-haul trips.
Gatwick’s vice-president of aviation development, Stephanie Wear, said: “Adding the likes of Bangkok, Quebec, Montreal and Islamabad to the fantastic selection of long-haul routes from Gatwick is great news for our passengers, including tourists and businesses across the south-east.
“The additions of Scoot and Norse Atlantic to the Gatwick family highlights the importance of Gatwick to airlines and we are equally delighted to welcome Qatar Airways back to the airport this summer too.
“As we look to grow back following the impacts of the pandemic, we hope to be able to add more long-haul routes to our range of destinations and continue to reconnect people and places across the world.”
